18th General Session of the Afro-Asian Rural Development Organization(AARDO)

The Hon. Pradeep Roopun, Minister of Social Integration and Economic Empowerment, representing the Republic of Mauritius, has been elected as the President of the Afro-Asian Rural Development Organization (AARDO) on the 6th April 2015.

Mauritius hosted the 18th General Session of AARDO at the Le Meridien Hotel, Pointe aux Piments. The official opening was carried out by the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister, Sir Anerood Jugnauth. Some 125 foreign delegates, including 17 ministers, participated in the grand conference.

“AARDO aims to catalyse efforts of the Afro-Asian countries, to help them restructure their rural societies and to reconstruct the economy of their rural people. It may be noted that, during the period 2000-2014, around 115 participants from Mauritius benefited from AARDO’s Human Resource Development programmes”, said the Hon. Pradeep Roopun.
